The principle of buttock implants

The gluteal implant is much more than a simple prosthesis. Designed specifically for the gluteal region, it is made from a cohesive silicone gel that adapts perfectly to the stresses of sitting. Several laboratories specializing in the field offer these buttock prostheses, guaranteeing a variety of choices to suit every individual. During the consultation, the surgeon will assess the natural shape of your buttock and discuss your expectations with you to determine the most suitable implant.

The most common indications

  1. Correction of flat buttocks
Some people naturally have smaller or flatter buttocks. Buttock implants give the buttocks a more rounded, shapely shape.
  2. Recovery after weight loss
After significant weight loss, the gluteal region can lose volume and firmness. Buttock prostheses help restore this area for a harmonious silhouette.
  3. Rebalancing the silhouette
Butt implants can also be used to balance the silhouette, in harmony with other parts of the body, for a more proportionate overall look.

Procedure for buttock augmentation

Pre-operative consultation

Before any procedure, a consultation with the plastic surgeon is essential. This is an opportunity to discuss your expectations and concerns, and to determine the size and shape of implants that will best suit your morphology.

Buttock prostheses have a silicone casing like breast implants. They differ from the latter in the thickness of their envelope and a firmer gel, due to the high levels of physical stress to which they are subjected.

There are three types of implant: round, anatomical and biconvex. Depending on the patient’s wishes and the surgeon’s examination, the surgeon will determine the type and size of buttock prostheses. The average volume of implants used varies from 250 to 350 cubic centimetres.

A consultation with the anesthetist will also be scheduled prior to the procedure.

Average time: 2 hours.

Buttock augmentation is performed under general anesthesia.

The implants are inserted through one or two 5-6 cm-long incisions in the gluteal cleft. After the creation of two adapted pockets, the implants are placed on either side in the thickness of the gluteus maximus muscle, which conceals them completely.

This intramuscular technique provides a stable, natural result. Once the operation is complete, the incisions are carefully sutured and a tight-fitting dressing is applied. The procedure can be combined with buttock lipofilling for an even more natural result.

Immediate surgical follow-up

After a visit to the recovery room, you will rest in a comfortable room before returning home the same day. Our team will provide you with the necessary recommendations for your return and will give you a prescription for painkillers for your comfort. Follow-up appointments with our specialists will be scheduled.

After the operation

The immediate post-operative period is quite painful and demanding, especially for the first three days. The prone position is essential; lying on the back or sitting up will only be allowed after 15 days. After 48 hours, however, you can position yourself on the ischial bones at the edge of a chair or bed.

Post-operative care is particularly important given the area operated on. Daily showering and wound disinfection are essential. A girdle or panty will be worn for one week. Resumption of professional activities can be envisaged after two weeks, and light physical activity (excluding cycling and sit-ups) can be envisaged one month after the operation.

The result

By the end of the procedure, a noticeable difference is visible in the volume and shape of the buttocks. However, it’s important to note that the immediate rendering is not the final result. The buttocks may appear more swollen due to post-operative edema, and bruising may also be present.

Although incisions are discreet and placed in inconspicuous areas, it is essential to follow post-operative recommendations to ensure optimal healing. Over time, scars fade and become less and less visible. You will need to wait 2 to 3 months for definitive results, while the operated area regains its flexibility and the implants stabilize.

buttock implant

Buttock implants are designed to last for many years. Unlike other augmentation methods, such as fat injections, implants are not absorbable and retain their shape and volume over time.

One of the main advantages of buttock implants is their ability to offer a natural look. Thanks to technological advances and the quality of the implants used, they perfectly match the shape of the buttocks, guaranteeing a smooth, harmonious transition with the rest of the silhouette.
