Causes of excessive sweating

Hyperhidrosis can be caused by a variety of factors. In some cases, it may be linked to underlying medical conditions, such as thyroid disorders, diabetes or certain infections. Hormonal imbalances, such as those that can occur during menopause, can also cause excessive sweating. Pre-session preparation

Before treatment, an anesthetic cream will be applied to the area to be treated to minimize any discomfort during the injection.

Injections

The doctor will begin by marking the area of the patient’s skin to be treated. He will then inject the botulinum toxin using a very fine needle to minimize discomfort. Injections are generally made every 1 to 2 centimetres in the marked area.

The effect of botulinum toxin generally begins to show in our patients two days after the injection, with a noticeable reduction in perspiration. After this period, a further treatment session may be required.

Follow-up sessions are recommended every 4 to 6 months, depending on individual response to treatment. These sessions help maintain treatment results and effectively manage hyperhidrosis over the long term.

Contraindications

Before considering a treatment for hyperhidrosis, it is essential to be aware of the various contraindications:

• Myasthenia (neuromuscular disease)

Side effects
