HIFU treatment at Claris ClinicTechnology

HIFU (high intensity focused ultrasound) treatment is a non-invasive, non-surgical technique for skin rejuvenation.

This device uses high-precision ultrasonic technology delivered in short pulses or bursts, thanks to handpieces working at different depths.

The highly targeted use of ultrasound remodels existing collagen and stimulates the appearance of new collagen in areas where skin slackening is to be combated.

HIFU treatment is ideal for people seeking to improve the appearance of their skin by reducing the signs of aging, particularly on the face, such as wrinkles, fine lines and loss of firmness, while avoiding the need for surgery. There is no scarring and no recovery period. This treatment can be carried out all year round, even in summer, and on all skin types.

How the session unfolds

Before any HIFU treatment, a consultation with a specialist will enable us to verify the correct indication and rule out any contraindications. You can also discuss your expectations and draw up a precise quote based on them.

An anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated one hour before the session. Skin is cleansed and disinfected. A conductive gel is applied to the skin to facilitate the passage of ultrasound. High Intensity Focalised Ultrasoundenergy is transmitted to the treated area. The machine has several transducers (cartridges) which act between 1.5 and 13 millimeters under the skin, depending on the indication to be treated.

HIFU technology creates a large number of coagulation points at a temperature of over 70 degrees. Between 7,500 and 15,000 coagulation points are applied per treatment depth. The skin’s natural healing process will then enable the production of new elastin and collagen fibers.

Rapid treatment without surgery

The duration of the session depends on the areas to be treated and the degree of relaxation. A procedure on the face or neck usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. Redness may appear after the treatment but will disappear after a few hours. They simply indicate that the collagen regeneration process has begun.

HIFU treatment is non-invasive, which means there is no recovery period. You can resume your normal activities immediately after the session. It is recommended to protect the treated skin from the sun for a few days after the treatment.

The results

The results of HIFU treatment can be seen as early as the first session in some patients, although additional sessions may be required for optimal results. This will be discussed during your preliminary consultation.

The skin is gradually tightened by the synthesis of new collagen, while fat is gradually eliminated through natural channels. The result becomes definitive two to three months after the HIFU session.

Results can last up to 2 years, depending on skin quality and lifestyle.

HIFU treatment can be combined with other treatments for optimum results, such as facial hyaluronic acid injections.

Significant satisfaction

Most patients need only one or two treatments. Improvements in the treated area will continue for up to 6 months after the initial procedure. Slight adjustments can be made after one year, at a later session, according to individual needs. If you’d like to find out more about sagging skin and HIFU treatment, take a look at our blog post.
