Frequently asked questions

What are the main factors affecting skin health?

The skin is considered our body’s largest organ.
It protects us from external substances, acts as a thermal regulator and shields us from UV rays.
It is therefore essential to ensure the skin’s well-being.
The factors that affect our skin’s well-being are both internal and external, which is why our skin’s well-being does not depend solely on us.
External factors include pollution, water quality, exposure to chemicals, certain cosmetic products and the climate, which can lead to excessive exposure to UV rays.
Internal factors affecting skin health include diet, fatigue, stress, hormones, tobacco, alcohol and genetics. These many parameters that have a negative impact on your skin could be conscientiously improved by changing a few habits.
If our efforts can help improve the quality of your skin, some of the skin treatments offered by Claris Clinic can clearly help this process.

What are the first signs of skin aging?

Before wrinkles appear, your skin may be marked by very fine lines.
These are called fine lines.
Their appearance can be delayed with moisturizing treatments, particularly hyaluronic acid-based treatments, as they are often the result of dehydration.
CO2 Laser treatments and Hydrafacial care are two possible options in this case.
The first sign we tend to associate with skin aging is the appearance of wrinkles.
They appear as soon as the skin begins to lose collagen and elastin.
These two factors, which affect the structure of the dermis, are also responsible for the loss of skin firmness. Peelings, HIFU treatment and Microneedling are effective ways of preventing this, and help to promote the production of new collagen and/or elastin.
The signs of skin ageing don’t stop at fine lines and wrinkles, they also include loss of volume and sagging skin.
This manifests itself as sagging skin. In this case, Morpheus8®treatment or tensor threads are effective for firming and reshaping the oval of the face.
Finally, pigmentation spots can appear due to excessive sun exposure, or more simply, as a result of the aging process.

What are the common side effects of skin treatments?

As with any procedure, skin treatments can be subject to side effects.
In most cases, these involve swelling, redness or slight bruising, which disappear after a few hours or days.
In the most extreme cases, some people may experience allergic reactions to certain products, or the skin may become infected.
It is important to follow all precautions and recommendations before and after treatment to limit these side effects.
In most cases, exposure to UV rays without sun protection in the days following treatment should be avoided.

Are there any contraindications to skin treatments?

Some skin treatments are subject to contraindications.
The most common are pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Taking certain medications (notably Roaccutane®) or anticoagulants is often contraindicated.

How long does it take to see the results of a skin treatment?

The results of a skin treatment can be visible immediately afterwards, as with peels or HydraFacial®.
Most treatments, however, require several sessions, usually between 3 and 6, before optimal results are achieved.

How should I care for my skin after a beauty treatment?

After an aesthetic treatment, it’s important to take good care of your skin and avoid certain practices in order to prolong the effects of the treatment.
Your specialist will explain in detail the specific procedure to be carried out after your operation, but some advice is useful for the majority of cases.
First of all, it’s important to avoid massaging the face after the treatment, as well as the application of certain cosmetic products, to be confirmed with your doctor. Exposure to extreme temperatures and sunlight is also strongly discouraged.
If this is unavoidable, sun protection is essential.
It’s also important to maintain a healthy diet, rich in antioxidants, to protect the skin.
Finally, it’s essential to keep well hydrated, not only by drinking water regularly, but also by applying moisturizing creams and active ingredients to the face.
