Frequently asked questions

Where do brown spots come from?

These spots result from an excess of melanin, irregularly distributed. There are different types of spots: melasma (pregnancy mask) due to a hormonal disorder; lentigo (sun spot); and senile lentigo, which is age-related and can be aggravated by the sun.

What's the difference between lentigos, melasma and age spots?
  • Lentigos (sun spots): These brown spots appear on sun-exposed areas such as the face, hands or décolleté, and are caused by prolonged exposure to UV rays.
  • Melasma (pregnancy mask): Caused by hormonal imbalances (pregnancy, contraception), it manifests as irregular, often symmetrical spots on the face.
  • Age spots (senile lentigos): Linked to natural aging and aggravated by sun exposure, they appear on uncovered areas such as the hands and face.

Each type of stain requires a specific treatment, adapted to its origin and intensity.
