PRP + stem cell treatment: the latest scientific breakthrough in the treatment of hair loss.
Injecting stem cells from your own fatty tissue into your scalp can reverse the narrowing of hair follicles. What makes stem cells so unique is their ability to repair and heal faster. Given that stem cells have specific regenerative properties, their potential to treat various diseases and injuries is enormous and promising.
Recent studies have shown that stem cells can be used in hair follicles to stimulate the growth of new hair.
PRP + stem cell treatment is more effective in people in the early stages of hair loss and is an excellent option for patients who do not qualify for traditional hair transplant surgery. The treatment is also ideal for women who prefer not to go down the hair transplant route or who do not have enough quality hair to undergo one.
PRP + stem cell treatment starts with the taking of a blood sample which is filtered to extract the Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP).
Next, a mini liposuction is performed on the abdomen, the side or the hip to get some 10 cc of adipose tissue (fat). This part of the treatment takes about 30 minutes.
The fat is then purified before being combined with the PRP to make up a serum, which contains about 50 % fat cells and 50 % PRP.
Next, the serum is injected into the areas affected by hair loss. The entire procedure takes about 1 to 2 hours on average. For optimum results, we would recommend two treatments over the course of 3 to 6 months.
After the treatment
PRP + stem cell treatment does not really require you to take time off work even though you may experience some soreness where the liposuction was performed for a few days. You may resume work again the day after the treatment but will need to abstain from exercise for at least one week.
Like with any other hair loss treatments, it will usually take 6 to 8 months after your stem cell treatment before you will notice any significant improvement in hair density.
