Micrografting (FUE) is the only technique that delivers a natural and permanent solution to baldness, in men and women alike.
How does it work?
The surgeon starts by removing follicle units by means of extraction (FUE), using a circular scalpel, called a punch. The tiny holes that are left are less than one millimetre in diameter and heal within a few days. Manual extraction preserves the stem cells situated underneath the hair bulb and the donor zone quickly regenerates itself.
The assistants check the quality of the grafts which may contain one to four hairs. Next, they are stored and cooled in a bath containing a specific PRP-based liquid (or Platelet-Rich Plasma). To have a reference during the procedure, the surgeon marks out the areas to be treated.
The grafts are implanted with the help of hair implanter pens (implanters) which allow the surgeon to make the micro-incision and insert the graft at the same time. Once the procedure is finished, patients are offered LED phototherapy to maximise results.
Results of a FUE hair transplantation
With some 7,000 individual hairs implanted in a single session, the initial results are immediately visible because the follicles discretely emerge from the transplant area. One or two months later the newly implanted hair will fall out. However, come month 4, the hair will start growing again, with the result becoming visible from month 6, and the final result after about one year. The tiny incisions in the donor area will be completely invisible within a few days.
FUE hair transplantation can be combined with PRP injections or LED light therapy. These techniques increase the chances of the graft surviving in the bald area and can also accelerate the regrowth process.
Before / After
“I am 32 years old and have received an FUE transplantation of some 4,500 hairs. I was really impressed with the set-up and with the professional attitude and expertise of the entire team.
My procedure started at 07:45 and ended at 14:45. There were two doctors and two assistants. It took a bit of time and you need to be able to stay calm but the transplantation couldn’t have gone any better. The staff were very kind, the equipment state-of-the-art and the procedure itself was relatively painless.
The first result takes about 3 months to appear and you need to wait between 6 and 12 months before you get to see the full effect. Overall, I can warmly recommend the team of Dr Moradi to anyone who is struggling with hair loss.”
