The fractional CO2 laser rejuvenates your appearance by attenuating wrinkles, fine lines, pigmentation spots and certain scars or stretch marks.
The principle
As the skin ages, it becomes covered with fine lines, pigmentation spots and slackens. Some wrinkles can be treated by injections (botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid, …), but not all. In particular the fine lines of the lower eyelids and around the mouth, neck, hands, décolletage, but also deeply “creased” skin cannot be corrected by injections.
An effective solution exists for this: the “fractional” CO2 laser. The laser significantly improves the appearance of the skin. The healing period is short (4 to 7 days) and is followed by a period of 2 to 3 weeks of moderate redness, easily camouflaged by make-up, which allows you to continue a normal life.
The procedure
One hour before the procedure, photographs are taken of the area to be treated (face, neck, décolletage, hands).
Then a light local anaesthetic is applied so that the treatment can be performed comfortably.
The impact of the laser beam on the face gives a tingling sensation, but this feeling is generally well tolerated.
The treatment takes between 30 and 60 minutes.
After the procedure
Your skin becomes red and bears the traces of the multiple impact points of the laser. A warm sensation (like a sunburn) lasts two to three hours after treatment.
The following days
In the following days, the face is swollen, red and bears innumerable small skin flakes (impact points of the laser), which will spontaneously be eliminated between the fourth and seventh day, depending on the extent of the treatment. Once the small dead skin flakes have disappeared, you can put on make-up and go out normally, even if the skin remains red for several weeks.
It is essential to regularly apply a healing and moisturising cream to accelerate the elimination of the small dead skin flakes and the healing process. Sun exposure is prohibited during the two months following the treatment to avoid the appearance of brown spots on the exposed areas.
The results obtained
The fractional CO2 laser causes the elimination of the superficial, damaged layers of the epidermis as well as a thermal effect in the deeper part of the skin. It is this deep effect that will induce the production of new collagen for about three months and will help to retighten the skin. The skin is really regenerated deep down and appears smoother and younger. Pigmented “age spots” and fine lines disappear.
The result obtained is generally optimal after the period of three months. Generally, superficial wrinkles are considerably improved, the complexion is more even and the skin appears firmer and “tightened”. For very wrinkled skin, several treatments may be necessary. During subsequent treatments, it is then possible to treat only certain localised areas (for example around the mouth).
